Note: Hema Malini was awarded the Uttam Vaggayekar Jialal Vasant award by Union Minister of power Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde at Ajivasan Auditorium in Juhu, Mumbai. She also performed Bharatnatyam on the occasion. The award is conferred upon accomplished performing artists, composers, lyricists and those who excel in fields of vocals, instrumentals and dance. Previous recipients include Lata Mangeshkar, Pt Jasraj, Pt Shivkumar Sharma and Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia. The award is in memory of Acharya Jialal Vasant and is the brainchild of SUresh Wadkar who is the managing trustee of Ajivasan school of music.
