There has been lots of speculation about Hrithik’s next film with Anurag Basu. Who will be his co-star? What will the title be? Well, we can now answer those two questions.
The title of the film is Kites and it will be filmed on location in New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angles. Kites will be a bi-lingual film with both Hindi and English dialoges.
As for his co-stars, a source close to the project said, “The Roshans and Anurag Basu were looking for someone with a truly international look, but of Indian origin. Since the character in question is a dancer, she must be proficient in Latin-American dance forms like salsa. They have finally zeroed down on Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori."
Rakesh Roshan confirmed the casting saying, “Yes, we have finally signed (international actress) Barbara Mori and Kangana opposite Hrithik. The film is titled Kites and Rajesh Roshan would be composing the music. The film should start rolling by July end (2008) and should release around June 2009."
Keep watching this space for more news about this sizzling new film!
We need a new face with Hrithik: Anurag Basu Posted : Wed, 02 Jan 2008 03:53:00 GMT Author : Subhash K. Jha Category : India (Entertainment) News Alerts by Email click here ) Create your own RSS India Entertainment News | Home Mumbai, Jan 2 - Anurag Basu, who is directing Hrithik Roshan in an action-romance, wants a brand new leading lady opposite the star.
Hrithik will be paired with a completely new girl, his first woman debutante since his debut in 'Kaho Naa... Pyar Hai' five years ago.
'The theme is such that we need a fresh girl. We are searching for her. If we don't find the perfect debutante, only then we may consider an established face,' Basu, who will present Hrithik in a never-before avatar in the movie produced by the actor's father, told IANS.
Basu earlier discovered Kangana Ranaut for 'Gangster - A Love Story', which was a turning point in his career.
'Yes,' laughed Basu. 'But every day isn't a Sunday. And we may not get that lucky this time. However, I'm extremely happy to be working with Hrithik who apparently saw 'Metro' and liked it.
'Hrithik and his father are non-interfering people. An added bonus for doing this yet-untitled film is that Hrithik's uncle Rajesh Roshan is setting the score. I have always been his big fan.'
The director did not have any release after 'Life... In A Metro' and feels it is time to wield the megaphone again.
'I need to get back behind the camera. It has been quite a while since 'Life... In A Metro' was released. I am glad it worked. But now, I need to move on,' said Basu, who plans to take the Hrithik-starrer on floors in mid-2008.
While he waits to start his film with Hrithik, Basu is scripting a film that he has committed to UTV.
For now, his plans for a sequel to 'Metro' have been put on the back burner.
'I'll do the sequel only when the script is better than the first part. Otherwise, there's no point in doing a sequel for any film,' said the filmmaker, who has survived a terminal illness and is now doing 'the best work of his life'.

Wanted – a Brazilian bombshell opposite Hrithik Roshan 31st Jan 2008 23.35 IST By ApunKaChoice
A sexy Brazilian girl is being sought to play Hrithik Roshan ’s love interest in the superstar’s next film.
Lady luck is about to smile on some girl with Latin American background. Director Anurag Basu is persevering in his search for the heroine for his next film, which will be made under Rakesh Roshan ’s banner FilmKraft.
The girl that is being sought ought to have certain distinct qualities – she should know Spanish, she should have sultry, Latin American looks, and she should preferably be a Brazilian.
Basu has so far met many girls, including the Channel V anchor Bruna Abdullah, who has a Brazilian father and an Arab mother. But Basu has not yet found the woman he is looking for.
The director has specified that the girl will need to play a very bold role in the film. She ought to have a distinct sex appeal and an international face.
There have been rumours that Bollywood newcomer Sonam Kapoor was considered for the part, but Roshan senior denies it, saying that Sonam does not suit the role.
Reportedly, the Roshans and Basu have zeroed down on more names. The lucky girl may be finalized in the coming days or weeks.

Anurag's back in action! 6 Mar 2008, 0000 hrs IST,TNN http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India_Buzz/Anurags_back_in_action/articleshow/2839730.cmsHrithik Roshan (TOI photo) More pics He's just won a Filmfare award 'his second trophy this year' for the best screenplay for Life... in a Metro; but Anurag Basu is more busy than jubilant right now. The director has just returned from Los Angeles where he’d gone to confirm an international actress to play the lead in his film opposite Hrithik Roshan. The film is being produced by Rakesh Roshan. "When we were in LA, along with the congratulatory messages, we kept hearing rumours about various international faces who’ve been cast in my film. Every day papers would confirm different names, including that of Penelope Cruz! Let me say that these reports aren’t true," clarifies Anurag. Another name that’s doing the rounds is of VJ Bruna; so is she being considered? "I’m not going to say anything to that because whatever I say is being misconstrued. But we have approached someone who is possibly bigger than Penelope Cruz and she’s the number one Latin American actress right now. The story also needed a Latin face, so we’re in talks with her agents. We’re just waiting for an official confirmation from her," he says. The grapevine was also buzzing with the news that Sonam Kapoor was approached for the film, but since the role was quite ‘sexy’, she declined it. "I don’t know how these rumours start circulating, because I’ve never met Sonam nor did she audition for the film," says Anurag. The film, meanwhile, is a romantic thriller based both in India and the USA. "We went on a recce in and around Los Angeles and Las Vegas and liked some locations. We’ll zero in on them shortly," he says, adding that it’s a pukka commercial film, which will be made with a global audience in mind. The film will go on the floors in June and release early next year. So now that he’s back home, will he find time to celebrate his double whammy? "I didn’t expect to win until I received the first award. And when Filmfare happened, I was hoping I’d win it this time too so I’m glad. But my happiest moment was when Metro got selected to be part of the Oscar library," says an excited Anurag.

We haven’t approached Sonam’ Tuesday, March 11, 2008 23:59 IST Digg it Add to del.icio.us Google bookmarks Yahoo! bookmarks Add to Newsvine Add to Reddit Jaldi five with Rakesh Roshan Is it true that you had approached Sonam Kapoor for the lead opposite Hrithik Roshan in your forthcoming production Kites? A: No, it is not true that we approached Sonam for the role. All the rumours that she turned it down are rubbish. I wanted a girl who speaks Spanish, so there was no question of even asking any Indian heroine. There were also reports that you approached Penelope Cruz? A: Again a creation of someone’s mind. I wasn’t even thinking of Cruz. All I know was that I was in Los Angeles and someone back home wrote that I was signing her on. It’s ridiculous. So what made you zero in on Brazilian model Barbara Mori? A: We were on the lookout for a good actress for the last six months. The director of the film Anurag Basu and I even approached agencies in Latin America and the US. We watched countless films. It was Hrithik’s manager in LA who noticed Barbara and recommended her name. We thought she would be perfect for the role. Weren’t you supposed to direct Kites yourself? A: Yes, I was, but I decided to give it to Anurag Basu because I loved his work in Gangster. I feel I am above all those petty feelings where you feel possessive about your story and film. Finally it will be my production and my film. Who directs it doesn’t matter. So when will you direct again? A: I am scripting a sequel to Krissh. But I wanted to give a break between my last direction and the next film. I want the urge to direct again to rise up in me, only then will I do it. I am in no hurry. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March 20, 2008 2:01:13 PM IST Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network
view JOHN, BIPS & HRITHIK LAUNCHED GYM videos Though Hrithik Roshan's latest heroine, the Mexican beauty Barbara Mori, is yet to meet the superhero, Hrithik Roshan, his work has already impressed her. Barbara has seen a number of his films and finds Hrithik a very good actor.
As per Hrithik's dad, producer-director Rakesh Roshan, he had met Barbara Mori in America last month. During a three day period Roshan Sr., accompanied by director Anurag Basu, had a series of meetings with Barbara. He narrated the story of his proposed film (tentatively titled KITES) and also told her in detail about the Hindi film industry and its functioning.
As maybe recalled, Rakesh Roshan has recently signed international actress Barbara Mori, opposite his son Hrithik Roshan, for a project to be directed by the talented director Anurag Basu, who has given successful and well made films like MURDER, GANGSTER and METRO. This is for the first time that Anurag Basu will direct a film under the Filmkraft banner and the project is already in the news for its unique pairing of Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori

http://www.mid-day.com/web/guest/entertainment/bollywood/article?_EXT_5_articleId=1108153&_EXT_5_groupId=14Hrithik can’t wait for Kites to begin Author: Subhash K Jha Date: 29 Apr 2008 CAN I BE MUMBAI KI CHORI? Barbara Mori yippee ki yay! Hrithik Roshan Hrithik Roshan hasn’t met her yet but he is most kicked about working with Latin American sizzler Barbara Mori. She features with him in his father Rakesh Roshan’s next production, Kites, directed by Anurag Basu. Barbara is expected in Mumbai soon for her costumes and make-up look. Eye candy Says Hrithik, “She is simply amazing. I have seen her in the Spanish film La Mujer De Mi Harmani (My Brother’s Wife). She attracted a lot of eyeballs in it. We begin shooting for Kites in July in the US.” Hrithik also gets to romance Kangana Ranaut in Kites. “But I can’t tell you whether that was the role Sonam Kapoor was offered. It was all speculation.” The actor is eager to sign more films. “The holy books say ask and you shall receive. I’ve asked. Let’s see when I receive. At the moment, I’ve one other commitment a cameo in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance.” Later, Hrithik goes into another film with his father though he isn’t sure it would be another Krissh. “It all depends on the script. We need to make sure it’s made for the right reasons and not just to encash on the brand. What we have right now is mindblowing but we want to go further. At this stage of our careers, we can’t do another Krissh just for the action. We can’t have just good and bad and all that jazz.”

Kites, Anurag Basu’s new film, is all set to give Hrithik Roshan an unusually steamy image. So far the actor has been known to steer clear of love-making traps laid by his sensuous co-stars. Barring Kareena Kapoor in Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon there have been no really hot-and-sizzling bed-room scenes in this image-conscious star’s career who is happily married and likes to be seen that way by his fans. All that is about to change now. In Basu’s Kites, Hrithik apparently has a lot of roll-in-the-hay scenes. According to a source the film is actually an adaptation of Woody Allen’s film on a lust-quadrangle, Matchpoint, about an ambitious working-class man who marries into huge wealth and then keeps stealing back to his girlfriend, who comes from an objectionable background, for some livewire excitement on the sly. According to the source, “Kites will show Hrithik as never before. And the girls chosen to play Hrithik’s wife and mistress are Kangana Ranaut and Barabara Mori who have been briefed about the steamy sensuous scenes in the film. Neither of the two ladies is known to be particularly coy. Kangana and Barbara are more than willing to go with the script.” In fact, Sonam Kapoor turned down Barbara Mori’s role because neither she nor her dad could see her doing those steamy adulterous scenes. Says the source, “When Sonam’s father heard the script, he was shocked that Anurag Basu could even think of Sonam for such a steamy part after Saawariya, where she was covered from head to toe.”

apa Roshan doesn't want Hrithik to kiss Barbara Author: Tushar Joshi Date: 20 May 2008 Anurag Basu wants a kiss between Hrithik and Barbara Mori in Kites, Rakesh Roshan will have none of it Rakesh Roshan and Anurag Basu are locked in a big debate these days. And it all revolves around the big question should Hrithik kiss his leading lady Barbara Mori in Kites. The romantic comedy, is to go on the floors in July. Both Rakesh Roshan and Anurag Basu have been having meetings in the last few days to discuss the possibility of a kiss between Hrithik and Barbara. The kiss between Hrithik and Aishwarya was one of the highlights in Dhoom 2, and with everyone looking for a ‘big gimmick’ to sell their film, Basu can’t be blamed for wanting Hrithik to pucker up again. Papa Roshan is opposed to the idea. A source on the project says, “All of Anurag’s films are real. He doesn’t shy away from portraying intimacy on screen. Most of his films (see box) have had intimate scenes and he believes the same holds true for Kites. Rakesh Roshan isn’t too sure if Basu’s treatment will work for Kites. He isn’t too comfortable with the prospect of his son kissing another woman in his home production. The two have been arguing over the issue.” Roshan has asked him to be more subtle. “It’s not like Rakeshji is interfering, but as far as the kiss is concerned, he’s made his stance clear.” Kites is a love story of a guy and a girl who don’t understand each other’s languages. Barbara Mori speaks Spanish while Hrithik doesn’t. Most of the scenes in the film will rely on body language and expressions between the pair, “There’s loads of romance in the film, and the chemistry between Barbara and Hrithik is sizzling. Anurag feels like it’d be a waste if they weren’t intimate.” It looks like Anurag may end up toeing the line and give up on the idea of a liplock. Anurag Basu and Rakesh Roshan were unavailable for comment. Kissa pappi ka In his films, Basu has used kissing and intimate scenes to show love. Hrithik’s ‘Kites’ gets a whopping 1 bn deal? Spicezee Bureau
Mumbai, May 31: Lady Fortune seems to be smiling at Hrithik Roshan and Papa Rakesh Roshan as the world rights for their home production ‘Kites’ is said to have been brought by Eros International for an unprecedented Rs1 billion (USD25 million).
The speculations doing the round also suggests that besides buying the world rights Eros has also bought the music and satellite rights of "Kites".
But there has been no confirmation on the reports from Filmkraft, Roshan`s production banner, or Eros International.
"It is just a speculation in the market," a Filmkraft source said on Saturday.
The movie, starring Hrithik Roshan and the US-based Spanish model Barbara Mori, is scheduled to start next month. To be shot mostly in New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, it will be directed by Anurag Basu with music by Rajesh Roshan.
The movie revolves around romantic engagements between an Indian boy and a Latino girl, who do not speak each other`s language.
Earlier, the film was in the news of the bold role of the heroine, which made Sonam Kapoor reject the film.
