With his father being fight master and stunt coordinator, Veeru Devgan, Ajay's had his share of both. He's done it all from riding on two motorcycles at the same time in his debut film Phool aur Kaante (1991), to needing doctors to keep him sedated in solitary confinement because the memories of his girlfriend make him violent, in last week's release of Qayamat. The stunts he performs do come with a heavy price attached to them though. As of 1997 Ajay had already broken his hipbone, ribs, anklebone (twice) and just about every other bone in his body. But is action and violence the only thing Ajay's character's are capable of in terms of emotions? Apparently not. With films like Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) and Hum Dil Chuke Sanum, he softened and became a romantic hero and a name at the box-office. He has received acclaimed performances for a third of his thirty-three films and won the National Award in 1999 for his role in Zakhm. If you think he is quiet on the sets, wait till you see him in his personal life. Although he doesn't say much, much has been said about him. His answer to that is, "We can only dream of privacy, you can't trust anyone." He has tried to make a happy home for him and his beautiful wife Kajol, and their new baby girl just born this year. The couple have worked on several projects together (Ishq, Dil Kya Kare) including their own, Raju Chacha, which unfortunately didn't make it in the big scheme of things. Ajay takes everything in stride though saying, "Things can't always click the way you want. There's always next time." Speaking of his career he says that it's his performances which give him satisfaction. Ajay certainly knows how to deliver a powerful performance whether he's jumping from buildings or just speaking to the heroine with his eyes. Bollywood isn't the only industry that wants their hands on him though. Tollywood is also vying to get a piece of the man. At this point, most of the details are being kept mute. What we can tell you is that Ajay will be starring with Rituparna Sengupta and Raima Sen. For whom and when will be revealed in due time. Ajay smile.
