Versatility is thy middle name. He is one of the most sought after actors in the film industry. A good man, bad man, funny man, or any character ever written Paresh Rawal has played it all. Be it the gangster Vellji Bhai in Sir, which won him the national award for best supporting actor, or the iron man Sardar Patel, Paresh Rawal slides into the skin of the character he plays with utmost ease. One of his most memorable and popular roles till date has been as the goofy Babu Rao in Hera Pheri, for which he won numerous awards.
Paresh Rawal started his journey as an actor from the raw and stubborn road of theatre. He was appreciated in numerous Gujrati plays, before Javed Akhtar discovered him and gave him a small role in Arjun. He played whatever role came on his platter with humility. His major break was in Mahesh Bhatt's Sir, where the role of Vellji Bhai was accepted by critics and public with open arms. Paresh Rawal was also praised for his role as a mentally disabled person in Indra Kumar's Raja. He never got stuck in a rut, or accepted only serious roles. His comic performances in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Hera Pheri, and the recently released Aankhen have become landmark roles.

His perfect timing of comedy, and the in-depth study of the character he plays, has made him one the most sought after actors. The audience loves him, and the critics are always on the watch out for him to try something different. Inspite of a hectic schedule with the movie world, Paresh Rawal hasn't given up on his first love- theatre. He has his own production house, Aangikam that has produced plays like Maharathi, Mulraj Mansion, and Chiranjeev.
His role as the blind beggar in Aankhen may go on to win him a few more awards for his humor and comedy. Paresh Rawal is a living example of how hard work, sincerity and dedication can take a person from theatre to movies and make him a superstar. Heres hoping that we get to see more from this talented actor, and that his best work is definitely yet to come!
