Versatile, and unconventional are just two terms which describe our Star of the Week, Anil Kapoor. He's the actor whose career went into Super Stardom overnight with the release of Tezaab way back in 1989.

Now with eighty-nine films as an actor and one which he produced; Badhaai Ho Badhaai, under his belt, he is working on numbers ninety through ninety four. Those of which are, Bewafa the Unfaithful, Musfir, No Entry, and Allwyn Kalicharan.

He began his career with Woh Saat Din. While competing in the same category with Salman Khan and Akshaye Khanna, Anil became famous for having three hits in a row, namely, Mr. India, Tezaab, and Ram Lakhan.

Knowing how to dance gained him more popularity with the directors who were eager to work with him. And proving that he could carry off a comedic role, he landed Biwi No. 1 and joined Johny Lever and Govinda as a drunk in Deewana Mastana.

Being unconventional, Anil feels, has contributed to his longevity as an actor. Yet he says that he never has aspired to be a star or dreamt about stardom. Rather he says, "I dream of characters." Whether it's his unconventionalness or something else, it's working. He has enough projects in the works to keep him going for some time. Yet, he says the one role he'd love to do is Jack Nicholson's in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

If you ask him about his family, he'll tell you, "his one turn on is his wife Sunita, he's terrified of his kids Sonam, Rhea, and Harshwardhana, because they criticize him, and when he gets to be reincarnated, he wants to come back as his brother Boney.

His recent release of Calcutta Mail this month will further show is acting abilities, opposite Rani Mukherjee and Manisha Koirala. The year 2004 should prove to be a good year for Anil. Let's hope it is a prosperous one for him as well.
