How are you enjoying your role as a producer?

I am enjoying every moment of it. It is a challenging job as I am involved with all the departments of my films right from scripting to music to post production to marketing.

Why don’t you act in films produced by you?

That's a determined decision. I can't do two things together. Moreover I don’t want stars to get an impression that I will keep a meatier role for myself in the films I produce. Except for 'Mission Istanbul' where I did a cameo, I am not acting in any of the fifteen films I am producing.

Can you brief us about your company Popcorn Motion Pictures and the kind of films you are producing?

We are already in fifth year with as many films. Our aim is to entertain masses, make films with some message in it. Our last film 'Mission Istanbul' was on terrorism and mindset of a terrorist. Our next EMI is based on financial institutes, their loan offers and their recovery. After that we have 'Mumbai Chakachak' a hilarious take on the cleanliness drive in the city, and then we have a film on train blasts that took place in Mumbai and many more such exciting subjects.

But we recently had a film on Mumbai local train blasts...

Our film has altogether different approach; it’s only that the basic plot is the same.

Be it TADA proceedings, his marriage to Manyata you have always been there for Sanjay Dutt. You share a special bonding with him.

Rather, I would say it is other way round, he has been always there for me whenever I need him, and we are more like brothers.

Is that the reason he shot for EMI first when he came out of jail?

Call it a coincidence.

It is rumored that you asked Sanjay Dutt to hike his fees like his colleagues...

I think he deserves what he is asking for. Also I would like to clarify that if producers are paying him x amount I will pay Sanju x+1 amount. I don’t gel business with personal relations.

Your tie-up with Ekta Kapoor...

Thanks to her! We are already co-producing 7 sevens and are working for future plans to take entertainment industry at greater heights.

Why no other reality shows like The Biggest Looser or its next season or any other TV production?

I am already in talks with Ekta to co-produce a reality show. It should be announced soon.

Future plans of Popcorn?

Plenty! We are already producing films, venturing into TV production also, events etc. We are also planning to open a very big studio on the outskirts of Mumbai for which we are looking for land.

Any plans to turn director?

No. Direction is not my cup of tea. I am enjoying what I think I am best at i.e. produce films.
