After 'Pyar To Hona Hi Tha', 'Ishq', 'Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge', Tumko Na Bhool Payenge' and Taarzan - The Wonder Car', Baba Films has come out with it's new venture, 'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie'. Here, Ajhai Acharya (Co-producer), Vikram Bhatt and the film's stars speak to Bollyvista.

Ajhai Acharya

'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee' is a smaller film, compared to your past films?

It may be small from the market valuation standpoint, but we have put in the efforts, which are required. Its narration is very appealing and has today's feel.

Vikram Bhatt's films haven't done well of late?

See, no one guarantees success at the box office. Even bigger stars and directors fail at there. Vikram is a proven director and we liked the script. Hence, we went for it.

Baba Films had signed a couple of big directors. What happened to those projects?

We have signed certain directors. However, as long as we are not satisfied with scripts, we won't go on the floor. However, within the next two months, we will take two big films onto the floor.

What are your future plans?

Baba Films is producing big films down south on a regular basis, and we plan to release at least three Hindi films here by next March. Besides that, we are planning huge animation film.

Your last couple of films haven't fared well at box office. Are you tense now?

When your new film is releasing, you feel the nervousness and I am not an exception to that. But I don't take undue tension. I have put in good work and am confident about the film.

But the films not faring well must be playing on your mind?

See, here, formula works more than anything. At times, my films may have not worked at the box office, but my producers have rarely lost money on the table. Even in my last film 'Red', producers earned. As long as I am making films within the stipulated budget and time, I don't think my producers will have a problem with me.

But 'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee' surely lacks star value?

It doesn't matter. I have delivered hits in the past even without stars. Non-star cast films like 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' and 'Pyar Ke Side Effects' have done well. While on the other hand, big star cast films like 'Eklavya' and 'Salaam-E-Ishq' bombed at the box office.

What are your next projects?

I have completed 'Speed' and 'Fear'. I am now supposed to start working on projects with Ashtavinayak Films, N.R. Pachisia and Percept.
Anuj Sawhney

How was working with Vikram Bhatt?

His observations are very good. His experience speaks. Critics will surely appreciate this film.

The film has mostly fresh faces. How was working with them?

I worked previously with Dino in 'Tom Dick and Harry'. Aftab and Nauheed were full of fun on the sets. All and all, it was very pleasant working experience.

Don't you think it's very important film for you?

Why only me? It's very important film for all of us, as it is what happiness is all about.

What of your future projects?

Ashtavinayak's 'Mr. Fraud', directed by Abbas Mustan, which stars Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu, 'English Film Brides Wanted', where Miss India World Sarah Jane stars as my opposite. Meanwhile, I have just signed a huge Hollywood project, where I play a negative role. However, due to contractual binding I can't reveal much.
Sameer Dattani

There are several characters in the film. What prompted you to do the film?

Though there are several characters in the film, every character is well sketched out, and that is high point of the film.

And working with Vikram Bhatt?

He is very clear in his mind about what he wants from his actors. This is one of his best films in recent times.

What next from you?

My two films, 'Mukhbir' and 'Marathon' are complete and there are a couple of films, which are in the pipeline.
Anjori Alagh

Do you think this is right film for you to make debut?

I think so because mine is a very powerful performance-based role. I know this is not the conventional way to start in mainstream Hindi cinema, but I have no complaints because my role is so exciting.

You have come from modeling world. Do you honestly like typical Bollywood, masala films?

Very much. I am dying to do a typical dancing, singing type heroine. I am a trained classical dancer. Besides, I have learnt Bollywood dancing from Shakoor.

Have you signed any new films?

Yes. I have signed Tigmanshu Dhulia's 'Fame'.

Koel Puri

Isn't this a different type of role than what you have done before?

Yes, I do agree. In most of my past films I played a troubled character. But here, I play a street smart, happy-go-lucky character.

People have this perception that you do only offbeat films?

That's wrong perception. I am very much open to mainstream Bollywood films. And I'm even ready to do southern films.

What are your other projects?

'Breaking News' is complete. Then, there is an interesting film called 'Amal', where Naseeruddin Shah plays the lead role.
