'I can wake up Kajol at 3 AM' - Tanisha

Her first film 'Ssshh..' bit the dust, but she is fighting back. She has lost oodles of weight. Meet Tanuja's daughter and Kajol's younger sister TANISHA, whose second film is 'Neal N' Nikki' (releasing December 9th).

Excerpts from an interview by VICKEY LALWANI:

Your start in Bollywood was not so great?
Few know this but the first film I was offered was Shekhar Kapur's 'Tara Rum Pum Pum'. But somehow things did not take off then. I guess, whatever happens, happens for the best. I was 16 then. Then my career was to launch with Ajit Pal's 'Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan' opposite Karan Nath. The film got scrapped due to financial problems.

That must have been a frustrating period?
Of course, it was. I am made of flesh and bones (laughs). But then, I have always believed that there is light at the end of every dark tunnel.

But did you always want to become an actress?
I will not lie. Kajol's success inspired me to no end. My ambition trebled when Kajol began getting wonderful roles written just for her.

What is 'Neal 'N' Nikki' all about?
There is a lot of naughtiness in the film. Neil wants to have lots of action before he gets married. So in 21 days, he wants to meet 21 women, and is helped in his efforts by Nikki. He's taking a moral vacation before his wedding, so you can expect tremendous fun and naughtiness!

There are 21 kisses in the film?
I haven't counted the kisses, but as far as I know, there are just two kisses in the film. I don't know what the big hoo-ha about the kissing scenes is! 'Neil 'N' Nikki' is a naughty, fun film, and the kissing scenes are an important part of the script. I knew Uday, and the fact that he didn't have bad breath helped... so I was quite cool and comfortable doing it.

How do you assess your performance in 'Neal 'N' Nikki'?
The audience will soon find out. It's for them to judge whether I have the ability to act or not. My mom told me, ever since I was a kid, I would try on her wigs and wanted to be an actress. I think I can act.

Does Kajol advice you? I can wake up Kads at 3 a.m. I often talk to Kads about the film that I have been offered and we reason it out together whether I say yes or no.

If you could work in one of Kajol's films which role would you pick?
I was kicked by Kajol's character in 'Gupt'. That was the ultimate for me.
