Murli Sharma who's put up some brilliant performances in the recent past is films like 'Maqbool', Main Hoon Na, Karam... is very excited about Prakash Jha's 'Apharan' which is up for release on 2nd December. Incidentally in the film this character is also called Murli who is a middle man who barters kidnapping deal.
"It's a very colorful character the way Mr. Prakash Jha deals with his characters and actors Is amazing. All i did was simply follow his script and his instructions." Says Murli who had a great time shooting for 'Apharan'.
He reveals Ajay Devgan with whom he had all his major scenes was a complete pleasure to work with. "Ajay has this amazing quality which very few stars have that is to respect the co actor's space. He was so cooperative and helpful during the scenes. Also as an actor there is something about him. He does the scenes so effortlessly, puts in so little but the impact on screen so terrific. I even asked him but he didn't share his trade secret with me." Laughs Murli who only regrets one thing that he didn't get a chance to share the screen with Nana Patekar in the film.
"I don't have any scene with nana bhai in the film. All my major scenes are with Ajay. Though i will never forget my first interaction with Nanabhai. I was sitting in a corner, reading after giving a shot... and he came up to me & said "bahut achcha kar rahe ho tum. Prakahsh bhi bahut taarif kar rahe the". And i did'nt know how to react. But that was very sweet of him." Smiles Murli.
"I'm always running late... but atleast I am always running." Smiles Murli Sharma who believes-slow & steady wins the race. "And I am racing against myself" he adds with a laugh. After earning plaudits galore for his performances in films like 'Maqbool', 'Main Hoon Na', 'Karam', in the recent now, he is eagerly looking forward to Prakash Jha's 'Apharan' which will hit the theatres on December 2nd, to be followed by Harry Baweja's Sunny Deol-Amisha Patel starrer 'Teesri Aankh'. Seems like this year is going to end on a high note for this talented actor. We caught up with Murli for a brief chat..

So after a few disappointing roles in Mangal Pandey, Chocolate, Kal.. Coming up next is Apharan..
Yes. And I am very happy the way my character has taken shape. Something I am really looking forward to and do point giving explanation above my characters & roles in the few films you mentioned because its gone by and I believe in the present... in the power of 'Now'.
Your character in 'Apharan'
Coincidentally in the film also my character is called Murli, who is the middleman who barters kidnapping deals.
How was the experience working with Jha
Very nice. Very pleasant. Besides being a great storyteller and film maker that he is. I think he is such a wonderful human being. Almost the entire credit for my performance in 'Apharan' must go to him. All I did was do my lines & follow his instructions because he was so focused & clear. I am already looking forward to work with him again.
And how was Ajay Devgan to work with
Very humble -down to earth.. co-operative. One of those stars whose aura doesn't disturb you. I have some great scenes with him.
What is it about chewing over a hundred paans during the making of the film
Well in the character Murli is a paan chewing Bihari who is very colourful, dresses very meretriciously. So for every scene, every shot I was required to have a paan in my mouth. So through the entire shoot I must have had at least hundred paans. 'And then also when I was dubbing but I am glad as its looking nice.

How was Nana to work with?
Unfortunately I didn't have any scene with him in the whole film. I hope I get a chance to work with him soon but its great to be a part of the same film.
What next after Apharan
There is 'Teesri Aankh' with Sunny & Amisha. It's a Harry Baweja film where I & Mukesh Tiwari play the negative leads. And there is also Sohail Khan Productions Fight Club where I do a guest appearance.
Currently what are you shooting for?
There is a Shekhar Jha film called 'Ek Dastak' which is the story of a few income tax officers. And I am also shooting for Cinevistaas Sahara show called Kohinoor.
Unlike many others you intend to continue with television..
As an actor I am looking for orgasmic work which will give me immense joy & satisfaction. Be it films or television. But yes films are my priority and as when I have time & a good role on television I will take it up.
Happy with where you are in life?
No I am not. I want more. I am a greedy actor. I am not talking about materialistic things, but work. I am not in a hurry. I won't do stuff just because it will keep me busy or give me money. And its so difficult to say NO. I don't want to repeat my mistakes. And I read somewhere The life you live ..is the choices you make. So I am being careful while choosing.
