Boney Kapoor must be a happy man. His 'No Entry', which was originally supposed to be released on the 22nd of July, was pushed up by a month to the 26th of August. The reason? It would be coming too soon after 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya' [in fact the very next week], which also stars Salman Khan. And to top it off, both movies belong to the same genre - comedy!
When the decision to push the movie was taken, the entire industry unanimously appreciated the decision. In an industry that is known for being egotistical, there was one film unit that collectively stood by the intelligent decision of delaying the movie, rather than coming up with unnecessary competition. After all, this could have caused harm to both 'MPKK' and 'No Entry' with the business having to be divided.
So far, so good! What really has made the people involved with 'No Entry' elated is how the delay helped avoid the onslaught of a negative publicity campaign initiated by Salman Khan's detractors and that too just a day before MPKK was to be released. Had the movie stuck to its original July 22nd release date, it would have faced rough weather in getting ready for it.

On one side, the publicity would have been in full swing with just a few days to go before 'No Entry' hit the marquee. Whereas on the other side, there would have been uncertainty behind whether the movie would be able to see a peaceful release at all. Moreover, if by any chance the verdict [which is expected in the middle of this week] was against Salman Khan, it could have had potentially strong repercussions against 'No Entry'.
Not that there won't be any nervous pangs for Boney Kapoor but there are hopes that the dust will settle down in a matter of few days and Bollywood's functioning will continue as always. Nevertheless, Boney Kapoor will be relieved by the thought that MPKK has received positive reports all over, with Salman Khan coming up with yet another winner. His 'No Entry' should only gain due to its advantage of being a multi-starrer, which traditionally bring in the moolah!
Meanwhile, there is one filmmaker who continues to be in the news each and every week [if not every day]. We are talking about Ram Gopal Varma, who after announcing a remake of 'Sholay' with his hottest new find Mohit Ahlawat, is daring to unleash him a week after Aamir Khan's 'Mangal Pandey' hits the screens on August 12th. Does this ring a bell? RGV gave his first commercial hit with Aamir in 'Rangeela' around a decade ago and it's a known fact that there hasn't been any love lost between them since.

Now, to make matters even more interesting, his 'Factory' has come up with a marvelous promotion! In the latest satellite promo of 'James', after mandatory action shots from the movie comes the slide - 'The Rising' followed by another slide '...Of A New Hero'. Now that's challenging the biggie 'Mangal Pandey - The Rising' right up there in its own field with a loud declaration of WAR. So confident is Varma about his own protégée that he has announced him as a complete package with everything that goes into the making of a superstar, and hence pitting him up against nothing less than the mighty Khan.
Pandey vs. James...the battle lines are drawn.... The swords are out...everyone is waiting for the outcome with bated breath.
Bollywood never fails to throw in surprises and the summer of 2005 is no exception!!
