You could'nt have missed him dancing and crooning 'Kya bolti tu' with Maria Goretti in the Coke ad. That's the sweet-faced Kiran Janjani, an ex-purser for Jet Airways who has made his mark in the ad world albeit all the struggles he had to face. This chocolate-faced Piscean started off his career as a troupe dancer for Alisha Chinai and Shweta Shetty, doing a number of shows in India and abroad. His keen interest in dance led him to learn it on his own, picking up steps from wherever he could.

In the midst of all this, someone recommended modelling to him. He started off as a Videocon Sansui model. Meanwhile, to keep life going, he joined Jet Airways as a flight purser. This gave him security enabling him to dabble with his modelling career/assignments. The first big break came his way when Coke offered him the 'Kya bolti tu' ad. They picked him especially because of his dancing abilities. His status in the ad got a major boost because of the presence of the celebrity VJ, Maria Goretti.

His association with Maria and Arshad Warsi can be traced all the way back to his Bottoms Up series days, when they danced in the same troupe. He got his portfolio from his photographer friends. They helped him in every way possible, meeting people, visiting advertising and modelling agencies all over the place. All these efforts paid off, with some good offers finally started pouring in. It is during this time that Dipak Tijori had offered him 'OOPS!' This was the time to make hay and with the workload getting heavier he decided to quit Jet Airways.
His ultimate dream is to be a star, be it the movies or the small screen. That depends on the kind of roles he gets about which he is extremely careful. Kiran comes off as a very cool, calm and fun-loving person; he's the flirtatious kind who can swoon any girl with his disarming smile. We met him on the sets of 'Jalwa - Fun In Love' Produced by Rajender Tyagi and written directed by Rajiv S. Ruia, made under the banner of Tyagi Motion Pictures the film stars Kiran Janjani, Venkat (from south), Monalisa, Neha Bhatt, Mustaq Khan, Puspa Verma and Upasana Singh. In the main credits the film has music by Dilip Sen & Sammer Sen & Laxmi Vasant, lyrics by Shabir Ahmed, & Associate producer Sanjay Shah.

You seemed to have disappeared after 'Oops!'
No, no, though 'Oops!' was my first film, then I decided not to do a sex-based film, I did not want people to say oh after 'Oops!' he got no movies so he is doing sex movies. After 'Oops!' I did 'Sau Jhooth Ek Sach', which has eminent stars in the movie, like Mammootty (from South), Vikram Gokhale, Lilette Dubey, and Neha Dubey. This film has won awards at festivals too. With this film I have come in the group of good actors. I had learnt a lot while working in this movie that is going to be shortly released. 'Jalwa' is my third movie, I have done a small role in 'STOP!'. Then I have done 'Haseena' with Ishaa Koppikar, Preeti Jhanjani and Raj Babbar, which is 100% complete. So you see I have'nt disappeared from Bollywood I was just waiting for the right kind of roles to come.
How did you bag this role in Jalwa - Fun In Love?
Rajiv Ruia, when he saw 'Oops!', he liked my character a lot, and although Oops! was not commercially successful, but it is said a good actor gets anyhow noticed. At that time he had decided that when he will make 'Jalwa - Fun In Love' he will cast me in that, and for me it was a big thing for an upcoming actor and there is a established director who has thought about the film keeping me in mind. He met me on the sets of 'STOP!' And told me that I have a script which is made keeping you in mind, which is a commercially bold film. I felt this film concentrates more on me and I will also get a commercial hero image and I said yes to him.

Can you elucidate your role in Jalwa - Fun In Love?
I am playing the role of a rich businessman, who has a very bad past. He has his father's established business going to the office. He flirts with his secretary, after a matter of time he is a married man, and he confronts this girl but does not recognize her as he had been flirting around. How the girl takes revenge on him is all about the film.

How do you feel working with Rajiv Ruia?
Well, Dipak Tijori is my first priority but Rajiv Ruia is fanatastic. We had been to Bangkok for a twenty days shooting schedule and I was just in awe to see him work, the way he works he knows how to get his work done. I have full faith in him; I can trust that my career is safe in his hands.
What types of roles are you comfortable with?
I believe when you are comfortable with the director, the setup, your co-stars then you become comfortable. There is a different thrill working with big stars you learn a lot from them, they guide you how bring the best out of you. I really loved doing tear-shedding role in Jalwa; many people had told me that I don't look good doing this type of role. After hearing this I used to practice the crying scenes in front of the mirror and improved on it. Dancing is my second self, doing performance-based roles thrills me.

Have you ever thought of doing television?
I would love to do television provided I have time for the same; would love to do dance based shows.

Now that Jalwa - Fun In Love is complete how do you feel about it?
Jalwa - Fun In Love has all the ingredients of a commercial masala hit film.

What is the USP of Kiran Janjani?
Easy availability, no hassles of secretaries or price negotiation. Even when I am a successful actor I will keep myself same. I feel I have lot to do and there is little time. I dream a lot and want to realize my dreams - big house, big car. I have a dream car BMW that I had seen in London want to have that.
