The long-legged Udita Goswami made her debut with Pooja Bhatt's 'Paap' (2003). The film sank, and Udita disappeared for a while. Two years later, actress is back with her new film, 'Zeher', a Mahesh Bhatt production. Though the film hasn't opened to packed houses, Udita is still upbeat. Directed by debutant Mohit Suri (who is said to be dating the actress), the film also stars Emraan Hashmi and Shamita Shetty.
Here are the excerpts from her conversation with Vickey Lalwani:
Describe the 'Zeher' experience.
Working on the film was fun because the entire unit was young. Mohit is only 23 years old! So we gelled very well. His suggestions were treated as suggestions, not thundering orders. He was always open to ideas. Almost the entire cast and crew was of the same age group. It was real fun.
But the film hasn't opened to a sell-out?
How many films in today's times, barring the ones which have Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan open to a sell out? The answer is a big zero. I think I have answered your question! (pauses).
Go on...
I think 'Zeher' is an excellent film from Bhatt Saab's stable.

How was Mohit as a director?
Mohit is an excellent director. I was a bit uncertain about him earlier. But Pooja assured me that she knew what she was doing.
How's Mohit as a lover?
Oh, come on! Let's not get into this again. We are just good friends. It's too early to say where we are heading.
Compare him to Pooja Bhatt, your director in 'Paap'.
It was easier working with Pooja because she is a female director. She knows what you are going through. She knows your emotions. Actually, both are very good to work with. I can't say who is better.
Your equation with Emraan and Shamita?
Emraan is also a nice guy to work with. I didn't have any scene with Shamita.

What took you so long to do a movie after 'Paap'?
After 'Paap', I wanted to be a part of a good project. I was going through scripts but they were all bad. I didn't want to be part of some nonsense film. I wanted meat, not bone.
There's lots of sex in 'Zeher'...
'Zeher' is not a sex film. The scene where my full back is almost nude is not there in the film. The producer wanted to promote the film like that. I don't have any objection to that. But I repeat, 'Zeher' is not a sex film (pauses). And I bet it will do well in the coming days.
Doesn't that trap you to being used as a tool. I mean splashing the scene on hoardings and not showing it in the film?
The producer has taken a call. I am a part of the project. I have to abide.
Your forthcoming projects?
I have two comedies, 'Amar Joshi Shaheed Ho Gaya' (Suniel Shetty, Om Puri, Neena Gupta, Rajpal Yadav) and 'Kisse Pyar Karu' (Arshad Warsi, Ashish Chaudhury, Yash Tonk).
