After Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby, another Deol will hitting the screens in theatres near you and that's Abhay Deol. Dharmendra's nephew, Abhay will be debuting in 'Socha Na Tha' opposite Ayesha Takia. Those who have seen the pre-release shows of this movie say that Abhay looks very confident in his debut. Here is an excerpt from a chat we had with Abhay for his next release:
Tell us how was it working with Ayesha, Apoorva Jha, Imtiaz Ali, Sandesh Shandilya, Ravi Yadav and Sunny Deol
Ayesha Takia: I hope Ayesha does really well. She has put in a lot of hard work. I think she should get what she deserves which is fame and success. And it was good fun working with her.
Apoorva Jha: Apoorva is very sweet. She used to get really nervous during shoots. I wish her well because she is very talented and has potential in her.
Imtiaz Ali: Imtiaz and I have become very good friends and I also wish him fame and success. He is very talented and I wish to work with him again and we continue to make great films hopefully.
Sandesh Shandilya: I really like Sandesh’s music. I really like Sandesh Shandilya also. It was not only the director but also the music director getting so involved in the story process in getting out the perfect music. I can’t imagine any other sound track other than this one for Socha Na Tha.
Ravi Yadav: Ravi Yadav has this stern exterior but is quite a prankster inside. It was great fun working with him on the sets. His work is also very nice and he makes us all look good.
Sunny Deol: Sunny Deol is my brother. What can I say about him? I am very glad that this film happened under him and he has been a guide and source of inspiration for me. He’s been there for me and I want to be there for him too.

Which scene in the film has been your most fun scene and which one is that one that you hated doing?
The memory of my first scene is still very clear. It’s not my best scene but definitely my most memorable one. It was shot in Sophiya college corridor and I was in the scene with Raj Zutshi. It was a funny scene and Raj is a very good actor and made me feel completely at ease and the scene turned out really good. Raj is very supporting actor and it was great working with him. I don’t think I hated any scenes but I don’t like the scenes where my face looks fat and my hair looks bad.
If you had a chance to be one of your elder Deol brothers who would it be? How do you rate them as an actor?
I can’t answer that one. There are so many things I like about both of them. They are both very good actors. They have their plus points and minus points too just like other actors.
Would you have preferred being launched in some other film?
Clearly not.

What is your character in the film? Was it difficult playing him?
My character is this regular guy who has this knack to get into trouble. He’s also someone who loves life. He is someone like you and me. Initially there’s no mystery about him but as you go along with the movie you get to like him for all his faults. Even though he is doing lots of wrong, you still empathize with him. It’s very easy to play black or white but it’s not so easy to portray someone who actually has something silly about him that you like.
Did you have any apprehensions about working with a new director for your debut film?
Initially, I didn’t know Imtiaz so well. In a few days, he gave me the narration of the film and he was really good. I was really hoping that he’s as good in the execution as he is in story telling. And then I remember that we clicked really soon. And even before we started shooting, I felt that this is it. This is the guy who’s going to make a great film. I am very glad that it has worked out for both of us.
