Who says that girls who shake their butts in remix numbers have it easy? Ask Ayesha Takia, the girl in the 'Shake it Daddy' remix. Her first film 'Socha Na Tha' got stalled and she was replaced in her second film, Farah Khan's 'Main Hoon Na'. Finally, she made her debut in Abbas-Mustan's
'Taarzan- The Wonder Car', opposite Vatsal Seth. The film flopped badly. Ditto for her second film 'Dil Maange More'. But still, nobody has criticized her per se. In fact, she is regarded as a promising future prospect for the film industry. 'Socha Na Tha' is finally hitting the theatres, this Friday.
Here are the excerpts from her interview:
Did you always want to be an actress?
I have been doing ads since I was four years old. I must have done 60 ads by now. Ever since I was five, I told my relatives that I wanted to be an actress. My first music video was Falguni Pathak's 'Meri Chunar' when I was 15. Then came 'Shake It Daddy', which brought me a lot of recognition.
Even your second appearance in Bollywood did not fare well at the box-office?
You mean 'Dil Maange More'? (laughs) I don't know what to say. According to me, the second half of the film went for a complete toss.

Looking back to your first debut in 'Taarzan', would you have preferred to make your first splash by raising testosterone? You might have made a greater impact then?
I don't agree. Firstly, I cannot do what Meghna Naidu, Mallika Sherawat or Neha Dhupia did in 'Hawas', 'Murder' and 'Julie' respectively. Neither can I do a 'Girlfriend' (pauses).
Go on...
I can wear short tops and minis but I would be uncomfortable wearing a bikini. And don't forget Bhagyashree and Juhi Chawla never did any bold and brazen stuff in their first ventures to get noticed. I am very happy with 'Taarzan'. The film did not do well. So what? Is that any yardstick to judge that the film was bad?
'Socha Na Tha' was stalled in the middle. How did you feel then?
I went through a depression. I did not get out of the house for nearly six months. I am lucky I started young; otherwise, I would have been hit harder.

What is 'Socha Na Tha' all about?
Viren (Abhay Deol) is to marry Aditi (myself) and both families agree to this union. And why shouldn't they? After all they are of the same caste and hold the same status in society. But Viren has a secret, which he reveals to Aditi. He tells her that he has been seeing a Catholic girl named Karen for the past three years. He wants to marry Karen and has not told anyone about it. What follows forms the remaining part of the story.
Grapevine says, you were asked to leave 'Main Hoon Na', starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen and Zayed Khan due to an attitude problem?
Weren't you under a contract that you couldn’t sign a film until 'Socha Na Tha' released?
I was but a contract cannot span over three to four years. The contract became null when I signed for 'Taarzan'.
Your forthcoming films?
I am doing Prawal Raman's next, produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The film stars Ritesh Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. I am also doing another film by Ramu and I have replaced Amisha Patel in Vashu Bhagnani's 'Shaadi No. 1', which is being directed by David Dhawan.
