Tipped to be the Star of 2005, Priyanka Chopra is looking like a million bucks on the last day of the shooting of Pammi Baweja's 'Karam'. Vickey Lalwani caught up with her, while she was relaxing in between shots.

What is 'Karam' all about?
The story revolves around John Abraham and myself. I play the bar dancer he falls in love with. Post marriage, he has to assassinate five powerful men in order too make our life smooth.

Did you sign on for 'Karam' immediately?
I don't sign any film without a narration and certain details in the script. But yes, I was wondering if the chemistry between John and I would translate into love on-screen. This is because off-screen we are very good friends. Often those who are good friends off-screen do not look convincing on-screen while doing romantic stuff.
It’s being said that you made it as the heroine in Rakesh Roshan’s forthcoming film because the role is not long enough?
(Interrupts) Rubbish. I have a full-fledged role opposite Hrithik Roshan. It’s a very interesting role. We begin shooting in March. That’s a film I am looking forward to. It’s a great film with a fabulous story. It’s the sequel to ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. Sunaina (Rakesh Roshan’s daughter) who is a very good friend of mine, called to say that her Dad wanted to meet me. We did a couple of shoots with different looks and it worked.

Your forthcoming projects?
'Barsaat' (Bobby Deol, Bipasha Basu), 'Karam' (John Abraham), 'Waqt' (Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar), 'Blackmail' (Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty) and 'Yaakein' (Arjun Rampal).

In 'Blackmail', I play Suniel’s wife where I get involved in a kidnapping and the family falls apart. In 'Yaakein', I have a very non-glamorous look in most of the scenes. In 'Barsaat', I play an apprehensive small-town girl, whose life changes when she meets somebody. In 'Waqt', I am married to Akshay. The role sees the growth of a girl into a woman, as she stands by her husband at all times. As for 'Karam', I have told you about it. (smiles)

Do you see 2005 as the year belonging to you?
I have about seven releases this year. Let's see. I think everybody is working hard. It could be anybody’s year. I am purely a director’s actress. I just follow the instructions and that perhaps is the secret of my success.
