Lara Dutta is eager to hit the jackpot. There’s no better time than this while she has four films in the near offing. Here are some excerpts from a conversation with her:

What is Jurm all about?
Jurm is the story of Avinash (Bobby), a rich business tycoon who is arrested for the murder of his wife Sanjana (myself). Avinash’s only ray of hope is his best friend Rohit (Milind Soman), who is also his legal advisor. Rohit takes it upon himself to fight Avinash’s case. Jurm has given me ample scope to act. I am keen that it does well.

Has Amisha Patel used her influence on Vikram Bhatt to get your role chopped in Elaan?
Oh, come on. I don't know who started all this talk. I, for one, have never complained on the length of my role in Elaan. I completely knew what exactly my role was. This controversy, which broke out in a magazine, may have been done as a publicity gimmick for the film.
You are also doing Boney Kapoor's No Entry. But No Entry is very similar to Masti?
There is a general feeling that No Entry is similar to Masti. But that's a fallacy. Maybe because like Masti, even this one has three couples. Incidentally, I have been a part of both. Take my word. Both films are vastly different from each other.

Tell us something about Kaal.
Nothing until Karan Johar permits me to do so (laughs).

Your item number Kaisa Jadoo Dala Re in Khakee was quite a rage. Will you do an item number at this point in your career?
At that point of time, I did that item song because Raj Kumar Santoshi was directing it.

But today?
I would politely turn it down, no matter how big the banner is. After playing the protagonist in most of my films now, I don't think I need to do an item number. But yes, I must say that item number helped me to get a lot of recognition and mileage in my career.
How did you react to the media writing that you and John Abraham were having a scene?
If it was true, I would have reacted and perhaps even got edgy. But John and I were never involved.

Are you doing Raj Kanwar's next which is likely to have Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif too?
I am in talks with Kanwar. But I haven't told him yes as yet. It's pretty much fluid at the moment.
