PNC acquires remake rights of Sholay

This can be clearly called "the deal of the millennium". Pritish Nandy Communications has inked a $100-million franchisee deal to remake 'Sholay'. PNC has entered into an agreement with Sippy's owned Sholay Media and Entertainment to remake the blockbuster, make its animated version and also its prequel and sequel.

Ironically, the deal comes at a time when Ram Gopal Varma's controversial movie, 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag', an unofficial remake of 'Sholay', is set to release this weekend.

It is believed that PNC would have a revenue-sharing arrangement with Sholay Entertainment and Media instead of the licensing fee model.
