Soon after receiving an honorary doctorate from the Leeds Metropolitan University, Shilpa Shetty will be receiving The Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award on August 12, 2007.

She will join the group of personalities like Mukesh Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Adi Godrej, Anand Mahindra, Sunil Mittal, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Sant Singh Chatwal, Shah Rukh Khan, Tarun Tejpal, Rajdeep Sardesai, Sania Mirza and Sachin Tendulkar, who were recipients of this prestigious award.

A function to mark this occasion will be held in Mumbai, and will be attended by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the leader of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and chief minister of Maharashtra, Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh.
