Rakeysh Mehra's 'Rang De Basanti' will be representing India at the 2007 Oscars in the Foreign Film category.
Ronnie Screwvala says, "I think that a film like Rang De Basanti comes once in 10 years. We had earlier shown the film to students in various universities and all identified with the issues in the film. It inspires the youth to speak up."
Screwvala adds, "It is nice to see so much positive energy representing the Indian cinema. Thankfully, our resources in the west will help us and we will also speak to Disney Films to help us distribute the film overseas. We will now work over having a mainline release of the film. After the standing ovation the film received at the Golden Globe jury screening, we're sure it stands a strong chance in the Academy Awards too."
'Rang De Basanti' is Aamir Khan's second film, after 'Lagaan', to be nominated for the Oscars.
