Nasty whispers about 'Paheli' selection

The selection of 'Paheli' as India's entry to the Oscar has evoked outrage in the media and industry. Not only is the choice being questioned, so also is the very credibility of the jury comprising out-of-work obscure people of the years gone by with nothing much in their kitty.
The Film Federation of India selected 'Paheli', a box-office bomb, over front-runners such as 'Swades', 'Parineeta', 'Iqbal' and 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'.
