Mallika Sherawat was the first choice for Vishesh Films 'Zeher' (the role which has now been played by Udita Goswami) but Emraan Hashmi put his foot down. Says Emraan (Mahesh Bhatt's nephew), "I was very annoyed with her when she started telling around that she was solely responsible for the success of 'Murder'."
He continues, "I told Mahesh Uncle that if Mohit Suri was going to direct Zeher, then we should not choose Mallika. After the film she may take away the credit from Mohit as well. Mohit is family plus he is extremely talented. I was not going to allow that to happen. I lay my cards on the table. Mahesh Bhatt understood my perspective. We zeroed down on Dia Mirza. But Dia opted out. There were two reasons I think, though I feel she would be the better person to ask this. One, she was uncomfortable doing the bold scenes. Two, the Bhatts had second thoughts about her after 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha' flopped," he adds.
But how come now he is ready to work with Mallika under the direction of Anurag Bose? Explains Emraan, "We haven't patched up per se, but I guess it will be good for us and the film industry (smiles). People will come rushing to the theatres to see the hot pairing of 'Murder' once again on the big screen." Badmaash this Emraan, isn't he?
