Subhash Ghai is so impressed by debutante director Imtiaz Ali’s film Socha Na Tha (Abhay Deol, Ayesha Takia) that he has signed him to direct a film for Mukta Arts. Ghai feels that the treatment to the film is excellent. As for Ghai's film to be directed by Ali, it would be an emotional love story. The cast is touted to be consisting of some biggies. Ghai has also signed Nagesh Kukunoor and Satish Kaushik for his other productions.
"When I saw Socha Na Tha, I just loved it. The film is so cute that anyone who watches it will fall in love with it. I liked the fact that Imtiaz was able to extract such excellent performances from the newcomers. The other reason I liked the film was because of the interesting narrative and the fact that the story and characters were so realistic," says Ghai.
What will Ghai’s new film be about? "The story and screenplay has been written by the in-house story workshop of Mukta Arts. It will be a light-hearted love story," says Ghai. The casting is in the process of being finalized and the film will go on the floor in June. It will be made with big stars, according to the grapevine. Ali’s work has been appreciated so much that he won’t have any problems getting big names to sign on.

As for Ali, he is maha thrilled with Ghai’s praises. "I got a call from Subhashji and he asked to see the film. He liked it so much that he told me right there and then, ‘Your next film has to be with my company’," says Imtiaz.
Appreciation has been pouring in from all quarters for this young director who has been involved with television for the last seven years, having directed serials like Imtihaan, Purushkshetra, episodes of Rishtey and Star’s Bestsellers.
Dharmendra was so happy after seeing the first trial of Socha Na Tha that "he was dancing at the interval, he was so ecstatic," says Ali. The hotshot director likes to write and direct his films, as he has done with Socha Na Tha. In fact, women and human relationships are subjects that interest him. He has already written four scripts, one of which will be his next film.
