'Veer-Zaara' makes waves in Germany

Yash Chopra's mega blockbuster 'Veer-Zaara' won hundreds of German hearts when the film was screened for a select audience in Germany on the 12th and 13th of February. The Shah Rukh - Preity - Rani starrer was shown in front of 400 people at the 55th Berlaine Film Festival. The next day, the film was shown to a capacity crowd of 600. The response to both the screenings was fantastic, as the viewers were left enchanted by the love story.
Following this success, Yash Chopra signed up a distribution deal with the local German distributor, Rapid Eye Movies, to release Veer-Zaara in Germany in May of this year. Chopra and festival director Dicter Kosslick discussed over tea that the success of this screening could be the beginning of Indo-German cinematic ties. Later, Indian ambassador Rangacharya hosted a special reception for Yash Chopra at the Indian High Commission on the 14th of February. The filmmaker presented a personal copy of the DVD of the flick to Rangacharya. The DVDs of the film were launched worldwide on the same day.
