The latest couple in town, Yash Pandit and Manjari Phandis has every reason to smile. Professor Arindham Chaudhary has lived up to his promise, which he made to them during the making of his maiden venture 'Rok Sako To Rok Lo'. Chaudhary has signed Yash and Manjari for his next two films titled 'Faltu' and 'Tu'.

The production house Planman Life has started work on 'Faltu'. Hasn't the production house taken a risk, considering the fact that the fate of their first film bit the dust?

Executive producer Shubhashekhar Bhattacharya, says, "We have indeed taken a risk, but it's a calculated risk. 'Faltu' is a small budget film. 'Tu' will have four big Bollywood stars. So, I would rather term it as a decent calculated risk."
Yash plays the title role in 'Faltu'.

Going briefly into what 'Faltu' is about, he says, "Some people are thrown out of erstwhile East Pakistan during Partition. They settle in a small, seven-family village called Rani. Faltu, an 18-year-old boy, is the darling of the village. But he realizes he has no identity of his own. The film is about Faltu's emotional turmoil. In the process, he rediscovers the other villagers. He even falls in love with a 16-year-old girl." The story of 'Faltu' is adapted from the Bengali writer Syed Mustafa Siraj's novel 'Ranir Ghater Brittanto'.

According to Bhattacharya, Shilpa Shetty and Irrfan Khan will also be a part of 'Faltu'.

"They have heard the story and agreed to act in the film," he divulges, adding, "By their induction and a few other factors, the budget has been slightly raised."
The shooting of 'Faltu' started quietly in October in West Bengal where the entire film will be shot.

"We are looking for a summer release," says Bhattacharya. Anjan Das, who directed Planman's first Bengali film 'Saanjhbatir Roopkathara', dons the director's hat. He also directed Soha Ali Khan's debut Bengali film, 'Iti Srikanto'.

And who are the big names in 'Tu'?

"We have spoken to Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai and Juhi Chawla. If all goes well, there is no reason why we wouldn't have them on board," Bhattacharya concludes.

'Tu', which will be a story spanning three generations, will be directed by Arindam Chaudhary.
