Jim Corbett National Park in Uttaranchal is the backdrop for Kaal, this year's most eagerly awaited film. Soham makes his debut with this thriller, a complete 360-degree turn around from KJ's trademark feel-good films.

Fear, panic, drama and death await those who venture as prey into the 'City of Animals'.

The story follows wildlife researcher Krish Thapar (John Abraham) and his wife Riya (Esha Deol) as they investigate the evidence surrounding a two-month long onslaught of mysterious deaths involving man-eating tigers.

It also introduces us to a group of friends, which include Dev and Ishika (Vivek Oberoi and Lara Dutta), who plan to spend the weekend together at a farmhouse but instead become caught in destiny's grasp and are taken on a wild and unforgettable ride through India's largest jungle - all 1,300 square miles of it.
All parties converge, night approaches, the veil of darkness falls and the feeling of death hangs heavily in the air. The realization that escaping from the jungle is the only way to survive quickly sets in as the sounds of screeching monkeys and birds of prey echo in their ears. The assistance of Kali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan) is needed if they are to make it out - alive and he accepts the challenge.

As the race for life begins, the clock counts down to Kaal - the time of death. Will there be any human survivors or just those of the feline kind? Only by going to the theaters this summer, will the answer of whether it is the prey or the predator that will be the victor be revealed. Also, look for Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Khan-Arora appearing in the sexy item song Kaal Dhamal.
