In 1993, Fazil directed the Malayalam film 'Manichithrathazu'. It starred Mohanlal and it was a runaway hit. It was remade in Kannada, as 'Aptamitra' and featured Vishnu Vardhan. History repeated itself and it was a huge hit. In 2005, the P. Vasu directed Tamil version 'Chandramukhi' featuring Rajnikanth, also proved to be a blockbuster. Now, it has been remade in Hindi by "Remake Raja" - Priyadarshan, as 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', and it seems like history has become bored with predictability and will do just the opposite!

After a long time, Siddharth (Shiney Ahuja) has returned from America, back to his native place. With him is also is newlywed wife Avni (Vidya Balan). Much against the wishes of his family members, he insists on staying at the ancestral palace, which is said to be haunted. Strange things start happening and Siddharth calls his friend, Aditya (Akshay Kumar), who is an acclaimed psychiatrist. What Aditya stumbles upon forms the rest of the plot.
This film is bad, boring and just doesn't seem to end! The screenplay meanders on aimlessly without providing any thrills or laughs. The only saving grace is Akshay Kumar. With his entry, you actually feel like he has come to save the film and you! On the other hand Shiney Ahuja performs like he is in an amateur school play. Vidya Balan is good and Amisha Patel does not have much to do performance wise. Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, Vikram Gokhale and Rasika Joshi form rest of the supporting cast and give very good performances.

Apart from a couple of songs, Pritam disappoints musically. Art direction by veteran Sabu Cyril is good and so is the cinematography by Thiru. Editing is very sloppy. Dialogues by Manisha Korde are just not funny and many times incomprehensible. Yet again, Pony Varma choreographs badly!

Continuing in the tradition of his earlier films, this one also appears to be shot in too much of a hurry by Priyadarshan. The audience can also ignore this film in a hurry and move on.
