Apne brings together four people, the three Deols & Director Anil Sharma. All desperately seeking the same thing...a Hit! But it seems, that will remain elusive even with this endeavor of theirs!

Baldev Singh Choudhary's [Dharmendra] only dream is to make history by becoming India's first World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. He has however already won a silver medal in the Olympics.

But the betting mafia in the US, who get doping charges leveled against him, shatter his dream. Resultantly he is banned from boxing for life!

He wants his unfulfilled dreams to be turned into a reality by his elder son Angad (Sunny Deol). His only aspiration now is to make him a World Heavyweight Champion, create history and thereby also clear his name.

But obviously Angad has his own dreams to chase and his own goals to achieve.

On the other hand, the younger son, Karan [Bobby Deol] is a musician.

Wanting to fulfill his fathers' aspirations he decides to live his father's dream. The situations and complications that resultantly arise form the rest of the plot.

This is a film about familial bonding. And some of the emotional scenes are quiet good as well. But just these handfull of scenes just don't deserve your hard earned money.

The film portrays the Deol family as boxers. Sounds good on paper...though on screen all three are miserably out of shape and neither one is convincing as a boxer!

Shilpa Shetty And Katrina Kaif have nothing much to do here.

Kirron Kher, Victor Banerjee, Divya Dutta, Jawed Sheikh and Aryan Vaid form the rest of the supporting cast.

Director Anil Sharma, deserves due credit, for extracting restrained fine performances from Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby. The film gets a little interesting only when the focus turns towards the boxing ring and with the introduction of the opponent (Luca).

The boxing matches, (choreographed by Chris Anderson) are well shot and are quiet impressive. Overall the film is technically tacky like nobodies business. Believe it or not 60 % of the film is out of focus! The editor also does his bit in contributing to the tacky quotient of the film!

Also musically it is a complete let down, but hey you don't actually expect good music anyways in a film featuring Sunny Deol!

The tedious length of 2.55 hours doesn't help the dragging lackluster screenplay as well. The director should realize that gone are the days when making a "Big" film meant making a length wise "Big" film. If the length of the film had been restricted to 2 to 2.15 hours, it would probably have been an engaging fare at the least.

The film could probably do good business in northern India for obvious reasons.

Skip this film and you wont miss anything.
