'Corporate', as the name suggests pertains to the corporate world. It throws light on the goings on in the corporate world and its nexus with politicians. The film is inspired by the existing cola war.

The first half of the film is very heavy and is more of a character establishing exercise. Some bits of it may seem alien to the common man although an attempt has been made to simplify it. And yes, true to style, Madhur Bhandarkar has made yet another hard-hitting film!

Some may find this one-upmanship very appalling but some may enjoy it. But things actually begin to happen in the second half.

Now for the story. 'Corporate' is the story of two leading industrialists in the food and soft drinks sector. They are Vinay Sehgal (Rajat Kapoor), Managing Director of Sehgal Group of Industries and Dharmesh Marwah (Raj Babbar), Managing Director of Marwah Industries. Both are powerful and ambitious.

Nishigandha Dasgupta (Bipasha Basu) is a businesswoman with high aspirations and is Vinay Sehgal's employee. She's also madly in love with Vinay's brother-in-law, Ritesh (KK Menon). So there are also affairs of the heart to look into.

It's a clear show of how moral values and ethics are forgotten in a bid to reach the top, and also for love, in Nishigandha's case. She even takes on responsibility for some major mishap in the company to save the face of the company for Ritesh's sake. But she does not realize that she's being used as a pawn in the game between the two warring giants. This portion onwards till the climax is gripping.

The dialogues are effective. Although there isn't much scope for music, 'O Sikandar' and 'Lamha Lamha Zindagi Hai' are appropriate.

Bipasha is a complete revelation. One can't imagine that it's the same seductress of 'No Entry' or the sex symbol of 'Jism'. She's certainly taking strides as an actress what with her svelte body and impressive performances coupled with her sensible choice of films.

Kay Kay, surprisingly disappoints in the first half. He looks like he's sleepwalking through the film. Probably it's because he doesn't have much to do in this part but he's in form in the second half.

Another person to watch out for is the extremely talented Rajat Kapoor who excels as the shrewd industrialist. Raj Babbar too is good. Harsh Chhaya is excellent. Minissha Lamba and Sameer Dattani don't have much to do. Payal Rohatgi looks more like a call girl than the actress she's supposed to be.

'Corporate' is definitely a well made film that might work with the multiplex audience. But don't expect a repeat of 'Page 3'! This has no entertainment value at all except for the standard jokes cracked by office peons and drivers ('Page 3' style!).

*** (Three stars)
