This is the age of comedies in Bollywood! Every filmmaker is trying to cash in on the popularity of this genre resulting in tough competition among them. So every successful comedy film sets a precedent for the next. Priyadarshan's 'Malaamal Weekly' was the last successful one in this genre. The one that followed couldn't match up to it. Ditto for 'Pyare Mohan'.
Another flaw in the film is that it starts off by being a light-hearted comedy and gets very emotional post interval. The wit and humor is restricted to the first half. This takes away its charm. The second half is also full of chase sequences which aren't great fun. The second half also appears very amateurish in most parts. The screenplay is the culprit. There are no memorable scenes or sequences here. The Indra Kumar stamp is definitely missing.
Pyare (Fardeen Khan) is blind while Mohan (Vivek Oberoi) is deaf. They are friends and work as a team. Their impairment is because of an accident at work. The two were stuntmen in a film company.
Despite their handicap, they are independent. They run an Archies Gift shop now. The only thing missing in their life is romance. Both are looking for love.
As luck would have it, their life takes a turn for the better one day when they accidentally run into two sisters, Preeti (Esha Deol) and Priya (Amrita Rao). The two friends fall for them but unfortunately their bubble is burst when the girls tell them that they only look at them as good friends. The reason for this is their physical handicap.

The sisters are budding singers and are leaving for Bangkok for music shows there. There's a sudden turn of event and before they know it, the sisters are arrested for the murder a priest in Bangkok. When Pyare and Mohan learn of Preeti and Priya's imprisonment, they zoom off to Bangkok to rescue them.
What follows is a series of chase sequences interlaced with bits of humour. But the humour here seems forced.
All's well that ends well. The sisters realize their stupidity and fall for the guys.
For the first time one shows the girls being subjected to so much brutality. Empty beer bottles are hurled at them by the villains. As if that wasn't enough, this is followed by harsh physical torture. This seems out of place. After being through so much torture, how's it possible for them to survive. This again seems far fetched.
People in this film have a unique trait of coming back to life after they're declared dead. This happens with Don Tony (Boman Irani) and his brother too. So now you know that there's a lot of senseless stuff too happening here. There's something called as cinematic liberty but this one sounds more like taking the audience for granted.

Anu Malik's music is lack lustre except for the 'I Love You My Angel' track. The cinematography fails to capture the beauty of Bangkok. Some of the dialogues are funny but nothing to rave about.
Two people who stand out in the film are Fardeen Khan and Amrita Rao. Fardeen is indeed becoming a confident actor and Amrita's look in the film is really good. She has undergone a metamorphosis and is looking stunning be it her clothes or hair. Vivek Oberoi seems to have just breezed through the film but is good in a few intense moments. He's childishly cute in some of the comic sequences with Fardeen but also goes over the top in some scenes. Esha desperately needs to rectify her makeup and costumes. Boman Irani disappoints.
On the whole, 'Pyare Mohan' falls below expectations.
