Fight Club

This is a film for those who don't like to put on their thinking caps while chewing popcorn, sipping their coke and watching a film! And yeah, don't try to draw comparisons between the Brad Pitt 'Fight Club' and Sohail Khan's desi 'Fight Club'. It's sure to appeal to the guys, and girls who enjoy these male bonding kind of films. Also if you like a bit of slick action scenes involving smart looking desi muscular guys then go join the club.

It is the story of four close friends, Vicky (Zayed Khan), Karan (Dino Morea), Somil (Ritiesh Deshmukh) and Diku (Aashish Chowdhry). There's great chemistry happening between the foursome. Vicky hits upon the idea of forming a Fight Club. Initially the others laugh at the idea but decide to give it a shot. They are surprised to discover that they've discovered a 'potential success' idea. The club starts rolling.

Guys who want to fight each other come to the fight club, and fight after being put through a small question-answer round. There are rules to be followed. What's more! They even have to pay to fight. The best part is when two hot-bodied women in skimpy clothes come for a fight. It's complete 'paisa vasool' for a section of the male audience. The cat fight that follows is funny and seems a more novel idea to titillate the guys as compared to the common 'item number' that's been done to death.
One of the fights involves Mohit (Yash Tonk), who's the brother of Anna (Suniel Shetty), a dreaded criminal (now reformed) in Delhi.

Cut to Delhi. Somil's uncle played by Kulbushan Kharbanda, is having a property dispute with a cruel Sandy (Rahul Dev). The latter wants him to sell his club which he wants to convert into a night club. The uncle is murdered by Sandy. Somil and his friends head for Delhi to take charge of the club. They convert it into a night club, 'Crossroads'. The club has Sameer (Sohail Khan), an old school friend of Vicky's, as the bouncer. Vicky finds love in Karan's sister, Anu (Dia Mirza), Karan in Shonali (Amrita Arora) and Sameer in Komal (Neha Dhupia).

The love song picturized on Anu and Vicky could be snipped off. It seems out of place in a flick like this. Now the twist in the tale. Mohit is killed after a fight with the foursome. An enraged Anna is gunning for them. The climax fight sequence truly stands out. The film also boasts of three great foot-tapping tracks; 'Chhore Ki Baatein', 'Yeh Khuda', and 'Joshile Java Ho'.
The four guys are great except for Aashish Chowdhry who irritates at times. He goes over the top with his comedy.

Suniel Shetty is good especially in the climax. Yash Tonk is okay as usual. Ashmit Patel is irritating and lackluster. Rahul Dev is okay.

The girls don't have much scope except for Amrita who has 2 songs and some scenes. But she's a great dancer. Dia looks gorgeous. Ditto for Neha Dhupia but she hardly has any footage in the film.

Overall it's a film that will work with the yuppie crowd that loves entertainment.
