Emraan Hashmi could draw the audience to the theatre with the promise of long smooches and intense lovemaking scenes that have become his USP. But there is only the title track, 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' that has these elements. However, we have to add that this track has been tastefully and aesthetically shot. The song is the highlight of the film. Otherwise the film leaves you cold and untouched!
There is a love triangle as is evident from the cast and promos but there's no life to it. There's also a 'kahani mein twist' but it has been portrayed in the most ineffective manner.
Karan (Sonu Sood) is Sneha's (Tanushree Dutta) close friend and is also in love with her. But he can never confess his love to her so becomes the silent lover.

Enter Vicky (Emraan Hashmi), Karan's childhood friend. He is vivacious and full of the juices of life. Sneha is drawn towards him instantly. Ditto for him and he doesn't waste any time in telling her so. Obviously Karan is jealous. Of course, it appears like he's concerned for Sneha, as Vicky is an incorrigible flirt.
Keeping in mind Emraan's image, the audience too is bound to feel the same concern until the twist in the end. But we don't want to spoil your fun by revealing it. Anyway, Vicky and Sneha come close to each other resulting in the awesome title track. Of course, true love will have its share of hurdles. Soon it's parting time for Vicky and Sneha.
Enter Karan the good friend who takes charge of her life. Soon they are engaged. Vicky re-enters their lives. This is twist time leading to the trio ending up in hospital. Although there's a happy ending, a lot of questions are left unanswered. For instance, the drug angle seems to have been introduced just for a bit of thrill. The climax had great promise and could have made the viewer sit up. But unfortunately it falls flat.

Performances are nothing to write about. Emraan is charming but he needs to reinvent himself. He looks the same in all his releases. He showed great promise as an actor earlier but seems to have slipped.
Sonu is quite composed and natural. Tanushree is okay for her debut but needs to shed her tendency of aping Aishwarya Rai. Agreed she has an uncanny resemblance to Ash (in her mid shots) but her close up shots are best avoided. She needs a lot of grooming and had better perk up in the makeup and costume departments too.
Himesh Reshammiya's music is racy. Dialogues are okay.
'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' may attract the young crowd for a couple of days but one can't see great prospects for the film at the box-office.
