‘Move it faster!’, this is what you are tempted to scream at the director. The film moves at one pace throughout. Even the climax is no different. The film fails to move the audience too. It is like a sequence of well-executed action sequences put together. A veteran like Mithun Chakravorty is completely wasted. So much could have been done with him considering his great mass appeal. He is playing your regular underworld don with a few impressive lines thrown in for effect.
Now for the story. Karan Shah’s (Rahul Khanna) father’s life is in danger unless he pays a ransom amounting to 2 crores. The person responsible is a dreaded Baba (Mithun Chakravorty). Karan refuses to let his father succumb to Baba’s demands resulting in the latter’s death. What on earth did Karan have in mind? Soon Karan swings into action to avenge his father’s death and assembles a mini army comprising of Arjun Rampal, John Abraham and himself.

A journalist (Amisha Patel) joins the gang. Let’s not get into the hows and whys of this! Her mere presence in the film is a downer! It is inevitable that John’s sweetheart played by Lara Dutta too forms part of the gang. At least, she is tolerable. But her item numbers have started looking the same.
Cut to the revenge drama. There is a slight twist when it is revealed that John is trying to hoodwink the two and is trying to run away with their money. But that is soon sorted out. There is no element of suspense in the film as it is revealed right after Karan’s father’s death that he wants to bring Baba back to India and have him arrested. It wouldn’t be a Hindi film if the heroes didn’t succeed in doing that. So you have to just grimace and bear the two and a half hour chase, rather nonsense! It is meant to be a chase but the girls’ makeup and costumes make them look like they have just stepped out of a fashion boutique!

There are a couple of songs to ease your pain. The tapori song ‘andarlu mandarlu’ is entertaining. Lara and John’s hot number, ‘Dil Mein Hulchul’ fails to titillate! One doesn’t even remember the remaining numbers. The guys are decent, particularly Arjun Rampal. He looks great too, perfect eye candy!
John seems suited for the role while Rahul still has to loosen up a bit in front of the camera. Lara is okay but has started looking the same in all her films. Amisha is over the top as usual. Ditto for her clothes and makeup sense. And how does a journalist know how to use a gun so well! She is just not suited for this role. Don’t think this film has great prospects at the box office.
