From an actress who would act in multistarrers, today Raveena Tandon can carry a film on her able shoulders. From the 'mast mast' success that she had in her initial days, today she is the proud owner of a national award for Daman. Raveena Tandon has made it through the rain and today is one of the most pursued actresses in the industry, both for commercial as well as parallel cinema.
Raveena made her debut in 'Patthar Ke Phool' with Salman Khan, and the movie sank without much notice, but Raveena left an impression with her looks and performance. After her debut she tasted success only after a lot of debacles, and movies which didn't do her talent any justice. Her first big success came in 1994 with 'Dilwale' starring Ajay Devgan and Sunil Shetty. The movie was a musical hit of the year. The same year saw Raveena in a very different role, in RajKumar Santoshi's 'Andaaz Apna Apna' which was a laugh riot. She was paired opposite her rival Karisma Kapoor with whom she was rumored to have a fight over Ajay Devgan. Raveena however patched up later with Karisma. In 1996 Raveena did an item song for a Sunil Shetty movie - Rakshak, which turned out to be the hit song of the year - 'Sheher ki ladki'. Her new look was the discussion of every director in the industry. The next year was going to be a turning point in Raveena's career. 1997 made Raveena into a 'mast mast' superstar, the song and the film that gave Raveena a push into the big league, and also made a big difference in her persoanl love life. 'Mohra' was a huge hit, and the press started writing about how hot Raveena is, and how close she is to Akshay Kumar.
