The 22-year old Hrishita (she now spells it as Hrishitaa) Bhatt started off, like most others, as a face in various ad commercials, the most notable one being that of Liril soap. (She was taking lessons from the famous choreographer Shiamak Davar when she caught the attention of the ad world and bagged the plum opportunity to feature in the ad for Liril.) She became famous as the Liril girl with a cute smile. Her music video for the Aryans, 'Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra', also became a hit.
It was this ad that attracted the attention of first-time director Gurudev Bhalla and made him sign her on opposite Abhishek Bachchan in 'Sharaarat'. (We hear that she was also recommended strongly by a then close media friend of the Bachchans.) Next, Shahrukh Khan was smitten by her and took her on to play the role of his wife in 'Asoka'.
