One of his most memorable roles till date was the one he played in Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai. He played the role of a young painter who falls in love with an elder women played by Dimple. It was a difficult and sensitive role which he played with ease. Although Aamir and Saif played to the front benchers, Akshaye's subtle and emotional role went down very well with the gallery's and the critics. He received a lot of best supporting actor nominations for this role, but lost out to Saif for the same movie.
This year saw Akshaye in shades of grey. In Humraaz he played the role of a selfish man who would go to any extent to achieve fame, name and money. He was much appreciated in this role by both the critics as well as the public. He also improved a lot on his dancing and gyrated along with Amisha in the hit 'Bardaasht' song.
This week sees the launch of another Akshaye Khanna movie, Deewangee along with Urmila and Ajay Devgan. He plays the role of a lawyer which is again complex and different from anything he has done before. He hasn't revealed much about his role as the film is a suspense thriller.
There will always be high expectations from an Akshaye Khanna film. he chooses his projects well and works for the fun part of it which is rare to find. Although there have been critics of his receding hair line, what is not receding is his popularity. Akshaye Khanna is deifnitely here to stay, for a long long time. |
