Ashmit Patel had no idea that he'd be in films. Educated in Cathedral, one of Mumbai's best schools, he went to Texas for a business degree, and had decided to come back and work in a corporate set-up. But with sister, Amisha in the throes of cinema, Ashmit became used to living in and walking around in a film ambience. Amisha warned him that the struggle might be a tough one, but Ashmit suddenly realized that he had stars in his eyes, and woke up to a newfound realization that he wanted to become an actor!
He assisted Vikram Bhatt on Firoz A. Nadiadwala's 'Awara, Paagal, Deewana', where he became thick with starlet Amrita Arora. The two began seeing each other. Meanwhile, Vikram and Amisha had grown extremely thick after 'Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage', and began reportedly seeing each other also. It was no surprise then that Vikram promised to launch Ashmit in the Bhatts' 'Inteha' along with newcomers Nauheed Cyrusi and Vidya Malvade. 'Inteha' released and bombed, and Ashmit didn't see much work coming his way. But soon he was signed up for Mahesh Bhatt's 'Murder', a remake of Adrian Lyne's 'Unfaithful', with Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat.
