Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's daughter, Pooja, did some memorable films (the most notable ones being 'Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin', 'Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee', 'Zakhm', 'Tamanna', 'Sadak' etc.) but unlike other girls, she decided that it was time to move on from acting in the dusty studios to engaging in something more creative and challenging - namely, production. Commendable, because not many in this industry have the guts to quit the spotlight in their primes and work from behind the camera in stead.
Born in February, 1972, Pooja has always been known for her open life style - unafraid, unbridled and unabashed. She led life on her own terms and had no issues in flaunting the myriad men (Bobby Deol, Aly Khan, Ranveer Sheorey etc.) whom she dated.
When Pooja decided to take the plunge into production, she decided that she would avoid making the usual run-of-the-mill fare. And she stuck to it. 'Tamanna', based on the traumas of a eunuch, got her immense credibility and acclaim. She hit the jackpot when her 'Jism' (released last year in January) directed by newcomer Amit Saxena, did reasonably good business. The film went down in the media for its boldness and Channel 4 even selected its seduction scene as one of the best in the world!
