You have received some very favorable reviews for your performance in 'Apne'?
I am thankful to the media that they appreciated 'Apne' and my performance. It's a kind of rebirth for me. It was the media who brought me back here to Bollywood, and it is they who have given me the hope and energy to work again with full force. I feel that I have become young again.
How did you bag 'Johnny Gaddar'?
I signed this film even before 'Metro'. I had seen Sriram's work in 'Ek Hasina Thi'. I wanted to work with him, so when he came with this offer I instantly agreed. He is not only a wonderful director but a nice person too.
The late Mukesh had rendered a song in your earliest film 'Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin' and now you are working with his grandson Neil.
In fact I am very, much attached to this song 'Mujko Is Raat Ki Tanhaai Mein Aawaz Na Do'. The film has an emotional storyline. As far as Neil is concerned, he is a very talented youngster and an actor to watch out for.
Tell us about your character in 'Johnny Gaddar'.
Every character in this film has some grey shades and everyone is after money, and I am no exception. However, in my character's heart he is a man who doesn't like what he is doing. In fact, he is a very unpredictable character.
What's your take on Amitabh doing Gabbar Singh's role in 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag'?
He is a great actor and I am sure he will do justice to the role.
You are reviving your home production in a big way?
That's true. We have suffered a lot in the last four to five years, but thanks to that experience. Now, we are planning four to five films, which will be directed by Neeraj Pathak, Anil Sharma and Sriram Raghavan.
Being the first 'He Man' of Indian cinema will you be doing action scenes again in 'Johnny Gaddar'?
Yes, I have some action scenes in the film. |
