SRIRAM RAGHAVAN (Director)
How did you come up with an odd title for this film?
Though it sounds a little bit odd it is still very interesting.
The title suggests that you were inspired by two yesteryears thrillers 'Johnny Mera Naam' and 'Gaddar' for your film?
To certain extent, yes. 'Johnny Gaddar' is a tribute to Vijay Anand and Brij Sadanah's style of making thrillers.
Why did you choose Neil Mukesh for the film?
This role demanded a new face and there were few choices from the newer lot, so I decided to go in for a totally new face. The one thing I have learnt from Ram Gopal Varma is that whenever there is an opportunity to introduce new faces go for it.
What is 'Johnny Gaddar' all about?
The story revolves around five friends from different age groups. In a deal, one of them decides to double-cross the others.
Your experience of working with Dharmendra and Neil?
I was a bit worried when I first approached Dharmendra, but once we started working I became comfortable. He is a very emotional person. As far as Neil is concerned, I will say that his role will remind people of Anil Kapoor's role in 'Mashaal'.
It seems that you prefer doing dark thrillers?
To break this assumption, I am also doing a love story with John Abraham for Rohan Sippy. Then, I will be directing an out and out entertainer titled 'Agent Vinod' with Saif Ali Khan, produced by Saif himself. |
