After finishing her 'A' level education and before pursuing a career in criminal psychology, Geeta Basra decided to chase her dreams. She came to Bombay from her hometown London, and did a lot of modeling and ad films before joining Bollywood. She's the newest entrant on the Bollywood block with her debut film, 'Dil Diya Hai' being released in 2006. Her second film, 'The Train' with Emraan Hashmi was released a couple of weeks back. Here, she talks about her journey in an interview with Bollyvista. Let's board the train with the striking Geeta for a freewheeling conversation….. What brought forth your interest in acting? Right from my childhood, I always dreamt of becoming an actress. I loved Bollywood films, its aura, its presentation, basically everything about it. I did a lot of theatre workshops, plays and acting classes in London. At that time, everybody in my family thought it was too difficult to get into. Criminal law and its stories fascinated me, so I decided go into criminal psychology, but my mind was always into acting. I made my decision and asked my mom to let me give it a shot. Acting was something in which I really felt I could succeed. I was confident that I'd accomplish my dreams once I got to Mumbai. So how did you get started in the industry? It is already three and half years now. I did a lot of modeling in the South. I was keen to improve my Hindi, as Hindi cinema was completely new to me. I worked hard on my accent and I am now able to speak the language fluently. I did advertisements and was glad that I got work here. |
