Debojit
Debojit
Debojit, a civil engineer from a small town of Assam was recently crowned the winner of SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005 Contest. Debojit was happily settled in Assam but always had a dream to become a singer one day.

In order to fulfill his dream, he left his job and came down to Mumbai (along with his wife) to achieve something in the field of music. It all came true with his performance in the challenge show, which was arranged by Zee TV as Sa Re GaMaPa Challenge 2005. He won millions of heart and was crowned the Voice of India. He was greeted by millions of people in Silcher when he came back to his home to meet his relatives.

The recent winner of the SaReGaMaPa 2005 is now busy in stage shows in and across the country. He is recently in the news for his latest album 'Debojit', which is released under the banner of SaReGaMa. He was recently in the capital for the launch of his album, where we had a small chitchat with him.

Your first album is being released, how do you feel about it?
I feel very good. It is hard for me to describe my happiness in words. This success of mine has come only because of my mother's faith in me, my wife's support, wishes from my well wishers and friends cooperation and last but not least is Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge 2005, who has given us the platform to prove our talent.

Please tell us about your album? Sa Re Ga Ma is releasing my first album 'Debojit'. It contains eight tracks in which four are composed and produced by Biddu. The lead track 'Jeena' has been contributed by Bidduji and one song by Ismail Darbar is also presented in this album. I performed the song 'Jeena' at the finale of the SA RE GA MA PA Challenge 2005. We have also included two hip shaking remixes of 'Ek Hasina Thi' and 'O Humdum Suniyo Re'.

Which is your favorite track from your album?
I like all the songs from the album and I feel that listeners must listen to all my songs. But talking about my favorite I am biased for my song 'Jeena' whose videos are running in all the music channels and 'Tu dil hai mera'.

Even though you have won the Voice of India, you are still learning music. Why?
I feel that there is lot more to learn, as music is said to be vast as an ocean. I have been learning music since my childhood and have done my stage shows in and across the country. Presently, I am learning from Karan Sharma in Mumbai.

Are you singing for Hindi movies also?
Yes, I sang a song for Himesh Reshammiya, in which Vinit accompanied me. Apart from this, I have sung for the movie 'Cabre'. Bhappi Lahiri is composing the music. Conversations are also on with the famous directors like Mahesh Bhatt, Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

We have heard that your album will be released in other languages too. Is it true?
Yes, I will be soon coming up with my album in the Assam and Bangladesh languages.

Which actor(s) do you feel that your voice best suits?
I feel that my voice is best suited for Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
