Being a journalist too, tell us what it's like mingling with the hot stars and who are your favorites?
I've mingled with the usual Brit Asian music pop stars such as the Jay Seans, Rishi Rich's, Raghav, etc. Also, Harbhajan Mann and Hans Raj Hans were brilliant to interview too. From the Bollywood world I've interviewed Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor and many others. You know how Sridevi is my favourite actress; I got the opportunity of meeting her at the ZEE Cine Awards last year in London.... Actually I lie...didn't meet her just saw her, in fact she brushed past me!! I had the opportunity of interviewing her but I think it was the case of being star struck and I rarely do get that!! I so regretted that though...do wish I interviewed her!!
Craziest interview?
Hmmm can't remember...probably with the Bollywood stars. Always have fun talking to them.
Favorites Bollywood songs and films - old and new - And why?
Love Silsiilay's 'Ban Jaiye' and 'Janam Janam' from 'Bheegi Palkein'. They bring back memories of last year...it was a big moment for me when my twin brother got married in the summer.
Do you see BW becoming more popular internationally as time goes on or do you think it's just a novelty right now?
Bollywood is getting massive worldwide and in the UK in particularly its heating up. I tell you what...it's going to get even bigger this year with films like 'K.A.N.K', 'Omkara', 'Don', 'Babul', 'Salaam E Ishq' and 'Janeman'. Quite an exciting period at the moment for Indian movies in the UK.
Sabras has the poll online - Are there too many Bollywood shows in the UK? What do you think?
Well yes, certainly a bit of an overkill of Bollywood stars in the UK. Things are best done in small doses and having too much of a good thing always results in either boredom or product-kill. The unpopularity of shows like 'Heat' and 'Rockstars' also demonstrates this.
Your Motto:
Treat others the way you wish to be treated yourself
You can catch Raj and other DJs on Sabras Radio 1260 & 558 MW/AM 24/7. Listeners can also tune in online, which is great for those who live out of radio range, or for some - out of the country altogether. Sabras Radio is regarded by many in the industry as the pioneer of Asian radio in the UK. |
