Wonder boy Shahid Kapoor is also gearing up for his next big release from UTV, Priyadarshan's CHUP CHUP KE, out on June 9:
Once again you are paired with your girlfriend, Kareena Kapoor. Aren't you apprehensive about it ending up as Fida the last time?
Remember Kareena and I are only part of a film. The script, the characters, the music; all contribute to a film's success. In that way, I am very confident about Chup Chup Ke. It's shaped up really well.
What is the film all about?
Chup Chup Ke is a romantic comedy by Priyan. I play a dreamer who takes loans to make ends meet, but can never repay them. In a bid to raise money I pretend to be deaf and dumb and land up in a Gujarati household. By a strange twist of fate one of the girls (Kareena) in the family is apparently deaf and dumb. How I land up in situations and try to wriggle out of them forms the crux of the story.
It is for the first time you are working with Priyadarshan. What was the experience like?
Priyadarshan's forte is comedy, which is not loud or slapstick, but situational. Since it was something I had never attempted before, I was so nervous on the first day that I was actually sweating. It's my first film with him. It took me a few days to adjust to his style, but after that I was fine and started enjoying working with him.
How different is Chup Chup Ke from Priyadarshan's other films?
You've seen Priyan's successful comedies - Hulchul, Hungama, Malaamal Weekly, etc. But this one is a romantic comedy. It's a love story with loads of comedy.
