Randeep Hooda in 'D' |
Ram Gopal Varma's 'D' (released last week) has not gotten off to a rollicking start at the box-office, but the protagonist RANDEEP HOODA has received high praises. In an interview with VICKEY LALWANI, he talked about his childhood, 'D' and Sushmita Sen!
Tell us something about yourself.
I was born in a small village called Daseya in the Rohtak district of Haryana. I'm a typical 'gaon ka chora', for I grew up for almost eight years in a village. My mother, Asha Hooda, is a BJP politician and my father is a surgeon by profession. My eldest sister is a doctor and my younger brother is pursuing computer engineering.
Were you drawn towards acting from childhood?
My eldest sister was my real motivation. She encouraged me to act in various plays. I'm like a parrot and can imitate anyone perfectly. However, my English teacher never gave me an opportunity to act in his plays. But, curious, I used to hang around the stage and watch others act. Drama, as an art, fascinated me right from childhood. I was glad when my English teacher was transferred, because after he left, I became one of the best actors of the school. I went on to play lead/important roles in all the school plays. |
