Kiran Janjani |
You could'nt have missed him dancing and crooning 'Kya bolti tu' with Maria Goretti in the Coke ad. That's the sweet-faced Kiran Janjani, an ex-purser for Jet Airways who has made his mark in the ad world albeit all the struggles he had to face. This chocolate-faced Piscean started off his career as a troupe dancer for Alisha Chinai and Shweta Shetty, doing a number of shows in India and abroad. His keen interest in dance led him to learn it on his own, picking up steps from wherever he could.
In the midst of all this, someone recommended modelling to him. He started off as a Videocon Sansui model. Meanwhile, to keep life going, he joined Jet Airways as a flight purser. This gave him security enabling him to dabble with his modelling career/assignments. The first big break came his way when Coke offered him the 'Kya bolti tu' ad. They picked him especially because of his dancing abilities. His status in the ad got a major boost because of the presence of the celebrity VJ, Maria Goretti.
His association with Maria and Arshad Warsi can be traced all the way back to his Bottoms Up series days, when they danced in the same troupe. He got his portfolio from his photographer friends. They helped him in every way possible, meeting people, visiting advertising and modelling agencies all over the place. All these efforts paid off, with some good offers finally started pouring in. It is during this time that Dipak Tijori had offered him 'OOPS!' This was the time to make hay and with the workload getting heavier he decided to quit Jet Airways. |
