A Still from 'Insan' |
While in 'Vaada' Amisha plays a “Hindustani nari” torn between her husband
(Arjun) and her ex-lover (Zayed Khan), she gets into a more hip'n'chic
avatar as a fiery modern day journalist in 'Elaan'. Ditto for Arjun
Rampal, who gets to play the meatiest role of a blind man in 'Vaada' and
turns into a hired soldier with a mission, a la 'Sholay', in 'Elaan'.
For Lara Dutta, it's even more crucial as she figures in both 'Elaan' and
'Insan'. None of the roles demand much histrionics from her, with 'Elaan'
looking a bit better for her, mainly due to her being billed as one of the
“Five Unlikely Heroes” in the movie. Still, Lara has her strongest and
nearest competitor Priyanka Chopra quickly marching ahead with strong
performances in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' and 'Aitraaz', while Lara is
somehow stuck after only a few inconsequential movies. |
