Traditionally, opening week of a new year rarely witnesses the release of
a major movie. But the trend seems to have been reversed with 'Vaada',
'Elaan' and 'Insan' coming in a span of eight days with the magnum opus
from Subhash Ghai - 'Kisna' - following soon after. Three releases this
fortnight bring with them certain similarities that could be termed as
mere coincidences. Add to it the fact that all three releases are
“biggies”, and it makes the similarities even more glaring!
To begin with, the threesome of 'Vaada', 'Elaan' and 'Insaan' belong to
the thriller genre. While 'Vaada' has a love story as the underlining
theme with a thriller woven around it, 'Elaan' is a larger-than-life
revenge action film that is already billed as the 'Sholay' of the 21st
century. 'Insan' is a conventional 'chor-police' masala potboiler aimed at
the hardcore masses. The star cast of these three movies too has something
in common, with both Amisha Patel and Arjun Rampal figuring in back to
back releases. |
