With his demise, there has been a sudden vacuum created in the world of music and cinema. He was no ordinary lyricist. The songs he wrote have become benchmarks for upcoming lyricists, and many of them have idolized him. With a career spanning over 45 years, he has not only given the film industry a dazzling array of songs and composition but also became someone on whom music directors, producers, and directors banked to deliver a hit, and that he did without much trouble. With over 38 filmfare nominations for his songs, and four awards under his belt, there would be hardly anyone who would doubt his work. 'Jab Jab Phool Khile, 'Seeta Aur Geeta', 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh', 'Roti', 'Amar Prem' are few of his unforgettable classic works. These films were all box-office smash hits, and Anand Bakshi's songs definitely contributed to their success.
He always cherished the occasion when the great showman, Mr. Raj Kapoor came to meet him, and sign him for Bobby, which had all hit songs. Not only did he have a consistent line up of jubilee movies, but also his association with big banners and directors was increasing by each film. What started as a mere dream of a man landing in Bombay seeking a job, and trying to get his break as a writer became a reality when the late Bhagwan dada gave Anand Bakshi his first song in the movie 'Bhala Aadmi'. His work wasn't exactly lapped up by the industry instantly, but the word started spreading around slowly that someone new had arrived. His contemporaries like Hasrat Jaipuri, Sahir Ludhianvi, and Kaifi Azmi made Anand Bakshi write better and he tried hard to get in the same group as these elite lyricists.
