His first film may have been a dud at the box office, but that does not deter Emraan Hashmi. Bollyvista.com caught up with the young actor, who is in the limelight currently owing to the sizzling promos of 'Murder', his forthcoming film, which also stars Mallika Sherawat.
Your first film flopped at the box office?
Mahesh Bhatt had a feeling it would. He told me that it might not work. It was wrongly marketed, the promos focused on the sexy scenes between Bipasha Basu and Aftab Shivdasani. Since Bipasha had a mere 20-minute role, the public felt cheated. Moreover, Mahesh Bhatt hadn't been able to monitor the progress of the movie, as he was too busy with 'Saaya'.
What, according to you, is the USP of 'Murder'?
Hmm, firstly, the hot scenes between Mallika and myself. Fabulous music is another factor. The film also imparts an important social message.
What is the social message?
An extra-marital affair is horrendous. It can shatter homes. In fact, it is not fair to all the three individuals - the husband, the wife and the lover.
Did you do any homework for this role?
No. Actually, I myself have had an affair with a married woman. I knew her from college days. Later, when I met her, she was married. Her husband came to know about our affair. They originally lived in Mumbai, but later shifted abroad. She is not from the industry. Don't ask me to take names! The role is extremely similar to my life. I play Mallika's lover, while Ashmit Patel plays her husband.
Any forthcoming projects?
'Tumsa Nahin Dekha' is one in the pipeline. The female lead is not yet decided. There are two more projects, which I cannot disclose until the producers make a formal announcement. |
