Heena resurfaces in 'Insaaf- The Justice', produced by Mohamed Fasih and directed by Shrey Shrivastav. Her co-stars include Namrata Shirodkar, Dino Morea and Sanjay Suri.
Daughter of an Air Force officer, Heena made her debut in Milind Soman's 'Pyaar Ki Dhun' but prefers to forget it and wants 'Insaaf- The Justice' to be her maiden film. Apparently though the main protagonist of the film is Namrata Shirodkar, all songs of the film have been picturized on Heena.
Excerpts from an interview by Vickey Lalwani:
What is your role in 'Insaaf- the Justice'?
I play the role of an investigating journalist and am paired opposite Dino Morea. I help in providing justice to Namrata Shirodkar who is undergoing a mental trauma 'coz she has been raped.
Where did you disappear after 'Pyar Ki Dhun'?
(Laughs) I did not disappear anywhere. I was just lying low. I was not sure that I wanted to pursue acting. Even 'Insaaf- The Justice' happened because my dad knows Fasih and Shrivastav.
Do you believe in exposing to reach the top?
Not at all. I don't believe that exposure is a criterion to make it big in Bollywood, though most of the people whom I meet do believe it this way. Tell me, did a film like 'Baghban' need a pouting skimpily clad heroine to amass the huge collections? Today, what matters is the script. If 'Baghban' had a weak script, it would have fallen flat.
I am going to be choosy and create an image of my own. When I saw 'Janasheen', I can't describe what I felt!
Who are your role models?
Meena Kumari, Nargis, Bhagyashree, Rakhee. This trend of exposing by heroines
is a passing phase.
Do the stories you hear about the casting couch scare you?
I have the backing of my dad. I am not desperate. I am a trained director from University of London who is exploring acting. God forbid if I don't make it as an actress, I would direct a film. |
